A decade of media warfare in LatAmfor the Herald
“(The media) seeks to stage a new and very modern form of coup d’états.” These loaded words were presented — and later repeated — by the vocal Senator Aníbal Fernández, a member of the ruling party and President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s former Cabinet chief. It may have been no coincidence that Fernández associated the words media and coup on the 10th anniversary of the political incident that set the pace of an entire decade of thorny relations between governments and media in Latin America.
